We're so busy gawking at them that it takes us several minutes to notice that a giant tree (quickly named Pyggdrasil) has appeared in the crater. The tree goes all the way to max height and is full of goodies, and there is much rejoicing. I personally nerdpole to the top and create a lift to the top of the tree. | 7. These are the events as far as I can remember. I'm not gonna look at old posts, but I was around for lots of it:
1. A crater (we like to call it Crater, apparently) appears on the server.
2. A diamond ore structure (the Oracle) is found to speak when you try to break it. It gives a couple of vague hints about vaults filled with prophecies and treasure, and off we go.
3. Bedrock is found scattered on the surface near certain buildings. These seem to roughly correspond to the Seven Wonders of the World. Under the bedrock area, we find hidden vaults with some treasure and links to images, which have plans for what appear to be a temple, along with some vaguely-worded prophecy.
4. Once all the vaults are found, we have possession of a set of Temple plans, along with a coded manifest of all the (fancy!) materials needed to build it. So, after a small controversy over which direction the Oracle wants the building to face (nearly a religious schism), we build it, in record time.
5. On the first sunrise after we complete the bulk of the building, the Oracle amends the Temple plans and tells us to extend the shaft of the Temple's eye all the way to bedrock, lined with obsidian. So, we do that, again in record time.
6. The next day, we dedicate the Temple at dawn by lighting the netherrack braziers in front. Ominously, a ghast briefly appears over the temple grounds minutes before the ceremony. When the fires are lit, the Oracle warns us of nasties and promises us a gift. The server goes down.
7. When it comes back up, we find villagers at the Temple.
8. (Today) I'm not too clear on this part. Bedrock appears over the Eye opening at the temple, mostly sealing it off. The Oreacle appears at the End (?), hijinks ensue, something about TNT, the Oreacle is angered.
Notes by jcfergus: A. Server goes down - Oracle reappears in a bedrock structure designed so that it can't be broken with a tool (out of reach).
B. Discussions of fire, arrows, etc ensue, trying to figure out how to break the oreacle block, since breaking it was how we got it to talk last time.
C. TNT is determined to be the best (only?) way to break the block. TNT is acquired, was placed, and after much goading it was lit.
D. Nothing happens. The ore-acle just disappears.
E. The oracle gets angry at its destruction, the server gets set to hard mode.
9. The server gets put on Hard mode. Livestock disappears. Later, the server goes down again and Pyggdrasil is suddenly cursed. Lava streams down its sides from lava blocks in its upper branches. Half of it is on fire. Mob spawners appear at its roots. Giant zombies and ghasts show up. The server is still on Hard mode. Several players die trying to take care of the lava. At one point the Nether portal is blocked by lava, so anyone teleporting through catches on fire! Feeling deja vu, I nerdpole to the top again to find the source of the lava. After eliminating the topmost lava sources, I die horribly and lose all my stuff.
10. The server goes down again and Pyggdrasil is magically restored to its former glory. The End now has livestock in it (!). Hard mode is gone. All is well again in the Aporkalypse, for now.
