Atlanta Hartspig-Jackson International Airport
Atlanta Hartspig-Jackson International Airport is a megaproject located in the far northern regions of Aporkalypse at the coordinates -5584,-1963. It is unique in Aporkalypse in that it is a precise reproduction, at actual scale, of Terminal C (one of the most active terminals) of Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia, including all gates, shops, restaurants, offices, and back rooms. This was made possible by the availability of actual engineering schematics of the building (on a public website, it should be noted, under their Airport Facility Information > Lease Drawings menu).
Construction
The building measures 615 by 28 meters in size, and at least 70% of the building was completed in Aporkalypse as of July 2011. None of the apron-level offices have been reproduced, however. Some of the ramp area around the terminal has been flattened and there is an ongoing attempt to create an actual-scale jet out of wool. Actual-scale runways or taxiways are not expected to be built as this would cover a lot of the Aporkalypse map and require extreme amounts of earthmoving. A small ad hoc runway may be built eventually.
History
The project was originally started as The Porkagon in March 2011, where it was to be a 1:1 replica of the Pentagon. Guide lines for the pentagon shape were laid out to the north. In July 2011, however, the idea was scrapped and it was changed to the Atlanta Hartspig-Jackson International Airport project. The pentagon guide lines were dismantled, but the center point structures (mostly underground) still exist to this day. It is possible to find some of the pentagon if you have a good eye.
Current
The project is considered to be a community build, which means anyone is welcome to build, adjust, or decorate as long as the general structure, gates, and major retail outlets are identical to the real thing. All rail, road, and nether connections are welcome.
