Concept: [One of these]

Phase 1: Exploratory Tunnel

Dig a tunnel connecting two points. Make sure you aren't going through anybody's underground projects.

Phase 2: Tunnel Expansion

Widen the tunnel.

Ceiling - at least 3 blocks high. If you want to do higher or you break into a cavern, great.

Walking path - can be made of any material, at least 3 blocks high for headroom, two wide for walking.

Trench - solid block of some sort. Please nothing that can be removed with one swipe of a shovel to help prevent water flow accidents.

If you want to place a storage chest, recess the walking path on the west side. You should see examples of this on the existing Carpal Tunnel.

Please save all dirt - you will need this for the trench and water shaping.

We will not need cobblestone during the production other than to patch the trench when necessary. If you don’t wish to take the cobblestone with you then by all means put it in the chests.

Phase 2.25: Patching the Trench

Just walk along the trench making sure it’s all smooth stone or cobblestone, no dirt.

Water stations - You will need many 2x2 “infinite water” stations along the way. These should be recessed into the west wall just like the chests.

Phase 3: Lining the Floor

Fill the trench area 2 deep with dirt and / or gravel.

I know what you’re thinking - “we just cleared this out.” However, it is necessary to create the solid stone trench then fill with dirt to ensure that all sections have been adequately reinforced. We don’t want to have to stop while working to patch holes headed down into caves because we thought an area had been trench dug and reinforced and it hadn’t.

Phase 4: Sectioning

Place the dirt dividers. That is a row of 1x3 dirt blocks, then six empty blocks, then another row of 1x3 dirt blocks. For clarification see [the video].

Start from one end because this water lane works due to some twitchy and precise water physics. If we meet in the middle with a section too long or too short it won’t work.

Phase 5: Introducing Water

Something explicit about the two water blocks and standing on the walkway to smash dirt should go here.

Final Phase: Test Run Get on your boat and ride, looking for any broken areas. Explain about risk of broken boats.

Something about boatavators here and how still water slows down the boat.
