Pete's comment

  1. No hub may be within 1,500 blocks of another hub.
  2. Each hub must have at least three people supporting its creation (going to call them "residents", but that doesn't mean they have to live there).
  3. A mob-safe building must be created -- we don't want folks being creepered when they warp. Once all of those things are true, we'll fire up a new warp portal.
  4. The basic idea here: there will not be a ton of hubs littering the landscape (and the hub list) that nobody uses any more.
  5. The hub must build its own spawn portal, which an admin will activate.

Applications must include the following information -

  • Proposed Hub Name:
  • Residents: (Make sure you actually talk to these people to confirm they want to do this)
  • Map Link to precise location of hub:
  • Description: (text, screen shots, etc.)

Once that's all filled out, post a link here and Pete will review it.

The main caveat: You can only be a "resident" of one hub at a time, and no hub will function with fewer than three residents. So you can change your residency, but if you do that the hub will need to find someone else to take your place if your departure moves it below three residents.

Proposal: The Great Shroom

Proposed Hub Name: Great 'Shroom

Residents: TooMuchPete, rov4416444, FishBike

Map Link to precise location of hub: The Great Shroom

Description: The Great Shroom is still under construction, but is already a safe destination for travelers. It sits on some softly rolling hills, near a large body of water, and a few winter biomes. There are also a number of deep holes near by that likely lead to cave structures.

Closest Hub: New Hamsterdam (2.509 km)

Status: Operational

Proposal: New Hamsterdam

Proposed Hub Name: New Hamsterdam [New-Ham would work if space is an issue]

Residents: brenfast, greenie2600, beardlace, mhkid have confirmed.

Map Link to precise location of hub: Grand Central Station

Description: New Hamsterdam is a planned, community-built city. It features street addresses and building guidelines. Current structures include a firehouse, two skyscrapers, a Pants Emporium store, a natural history museum, a large stadium, a castle, a park, some personal residences, a mob spawner, and the Grand Central Station.

Grand Central was designed to be a transportation hub. Its multiple stories are built of half-blocks and glass which prevent mobs from spawning at potential warp hub sites. It connects to the Carpal Tunnel underneath. Unfortunately, the update that broke boats came out right as initial roads were complete so population growth has been slow. There is plenty of room for further development in all directions. See New_Hamsterdam for more.

Closest Hub: Spawn (1.485 km)

Status: Operational

Residents: mistersc, johnstein, rpvernon

Precise location of hub: X=-568, Y=72.62 Z=-11,025

Within its log walls one can find a mine drop-in, storage chests, a small wheat farm, and of course the warp hub itself. Outside directly to the west one can find a surface lava pool, and to the northeast is a desert biome. Sunrise is proposed so that people will have rapid access to large quantities of sand, and so that people will have access to a mine located in new lapis territory, as well as birch and pine trees.
